While others in the Berghaus range received quite a few negative comments surrounding the waterproof design, this model did not get as many. With less weight, more comfort and a weatherproof GORE-TEX® membrane.This lining means that the shoes are both waterproof and breathable. In fact, some are incredibly impressed with the quality of this lining and say that hardly any water gets in at all.

There are always going to be some people that aren’t sure about the features, look or fit of a pair of shoes and there are those that are unhappy with the thinner sole. Also, there are some concerns over the longevity of the shoe as a small minority have mentioned leaks after a year or so. INCREDIBLY DURABLE There is the immediate sense with these shoes that they are built for the outdoors. The full-grain leather looks tough, there is a good tread on the rubber outsole for a grip on difficult surfaces and there is the use of Gore-tex technology to protect the feet. Traditional Style–“Antique”, distressed-effect suede gives these a very traditional look and won’t date like more fashion orientated hiking boots. We would 100% recommend the Berghaus Hillwalker II hiking boots; they are so comfortable they give on an extended hike. They are simply the most comfortable boots we have ever worn. The Hillwalker II also do a grand job at keeping your feet warm which helps tremendously on an icy morning hike. Whilst not the lightest of boots available, they are very durable, and if you look after them, they’ll likely last the test of time for many years. Modern hiking boots can not always claim durability, so this more traditional time will provide excellent value for money. Another Berghaus option would be the Berghaus Expeditor Ridge 2.0– which is about 200grams lighter but still a traditional-looking boot.
